News - Anniversary Memorial [Back]

There's a memorial service Tuesday night, the 10th, in Groton. I've put the most pertinent details below. The library is right off of Route 119 in Groton.

Purpose: To mark the day and remember victims. To hear how people responded with action that in turn changed them and/or others. To recognize that people can and do find hope in the face of tragedy. To honor the victims and all those who responded to the events of September 11th, especially the Hanson Family. This is a coming together for anyone seeking to mark the day in the company of others. It is a non-political event. The tone is one of respect, with a time for listening, sharing and honoring.

Program to begin at 7:00 in Sibley Hall, Mid-level of the library. There will be a blank journal at the library's display during the week for anyone to write in. That evening we will have slips of paper for people to write the name of anyone that they want remembered from the event or write anything they would want anyone else to read for them.
